The Quartet
Four musicians. One voice.
Burbank String Quartet is a Boston-based ensemble of conservatory-trained musicians. Between us, we have studied at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee and at conservatories across Italy and Cuba, and have performed at venues including Carnegie Hall and the Boston Public Library. The same training and care go into every wedding, gala, and private event we play — and into the choice of every musician who joins us.
Violin
Gaia Sbeghen
Gaia graduated in Violin in 2019 with full marks and honors from the “Bruno Maderna” Conservatory in Cesena, and continued her studies at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee under Maestro Markus Placci. She has won several prizes and scholarships, including from CEMI – Fiorenza Rosi and the Rassegna d'Archi di Vittorio Veneto. In 2023 she won second prize at the American Virtuoso International Music Competition, making her Carnegie Hall debut, and was a semifinalist at the Dallas International Violin Competition. Since 2024 she has been a member of the Vista Philharmonic Orchestra.
Violin/Viola
Celeste Di Meo
Born in Rome in 2002, Celeste earned her Bachelor's degree in Violin at age fifteen with full marks and cum laude from the “G. Paisiello” Institute of Higher Musical Education. She completed Master's degrees in Violin, Chamber Music, and Viola, graduating summa cum laude, and attended the MAS program at the Conservatory of Southern Switzerland in Lugano. She now studies with Maestro Markus Placci at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, and performs regularly as a soloist and chamber musician with leading Italian musical associations and festivals.
Violin/Viola
Tommaso Lorenzon
Tommaso began studying violin at age eight with Maestro Ermanno Agostini. He graduated summa cum laude from the Conservatory of Padua with a Bachelor's degree in Violin and later earned a Master's degree in Violin Performance in 2024. He is currently pursuing a second Master's degree in Viola Performance and in 2025 earned a Graduate Performance Diploma from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee under Maestro Markus Placci. His orchestral training developed with principal players of Teatro La Fenice, and he has attended masterclasses with musicians from the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Grammy-nominated artists.
Cello
Ricardo Sardiñas
Born and raised in Cuba, Ricardo trained at the Amadeo Roldán Conservatory in Havana before continuing his studies at The New World School of the Arts in Florida. He has performed with the Miami Philharmonic and Symphony of the Americas, and is currently pursuing an Artist Diploma under Rhonda Rider at The Boston Conservatory at Berklee. As a member of the Burbank String Quartet, he has premiered chamber music at the Boston Public Library and Carnegie Hall.
